Help! I Married the Wrong Person! 3

No you didn’t!

Now here’s what a husband is supposed to do. (Wives you probably have a husband who doesn’t do this very well. But before you complain check yourself against tomorrow’s passage for wives)

“husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. 27 He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. 28 In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. 29 No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. 30 And we are
members of his body.” Ephesians 5:25-30(NLT)

Reflect

This passage defines what is probably the most important job a married man will have in his lifetime. Love your wife as Christ loved you, by giving up his life for you without your deserving it. When you meet Jesus imagine yourself presenting your wife to Jesus so loved, cherished and adored that she is radiant and in love with God . . . Why is she so? . . . To a great extend this will have been enabled or prevented by how you have or have not loved and cherished her.
