“Again
Jesus asked, “What shall I compare the kingdom of God to?
It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour
until it worked all through the dough.”
Luke 13:20-21
It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour
until it worked all through the dough.”
Luke 13:20-21
What
cool story!
In my mind’s eye I can see it. . .
. millions,
even billions,
of Christ Followers, each in their own way, each feeling insignificant,
even powerless, yet each doing something for others, each going out of his or
her way to provide comfort, material improvement, spiritual strength, food,
friendship to others who are hurting . .
. .this is the yeast of the Kingdom.
It’s how Jesus is righting the world, one believer reaching another who
is in need.
I
think the untold story of the world is the story of the power of the world wide
Christian Church.
It is the most underreported, undervalued power on planet earth.
The amount of good done by local believers, added into the mix of
billions of others works its way through the dough of the world and the
righting, restoration, renewal of the world will be accomplished this way . . .
.by Jesus, via his Spirit at work within you, to accomplish collectively
what no earthly power could ever accomplish.
These are the “greater works” of which Jesus speaks when he speaks of
incredible collective good done through the yeast of believers living out their
faith all over the planet.
Then,
one day,
just at the right time, Jesus will return bringing Heaven with Him and
Heaven and earth will be “married” so that a new Heaven on Earth world will
be established and Jesus will reign
in this New kind of Society
in which in which every small bit of justice for which God used you will
be find itself in this new world.
The
power of the Church of Jesus Christ is unprecedented and if you are part of that
power, don’t allow yourself to be proud, rather feel grateful and graced and
privileged to have the opportunity to have been partnered with Jesus.
“Lord
may my joy on earth be only to be used by you, day by day, in all the small but
significant ways that matter, by which you are redeeming the world and all that
dwell in it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the joy of serving you which lasts
from everlasting to everlasting.
Amen”
