Who IS This Man?

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning?” John 1:1-2 (NIV)

I hope you read John 1:1-18 every day this week. These 18 verses say that Jesus is God. They  say that Jesus created the world (note how this verse mirrors Genesis 1:1)  They say that there is nothing He didn’t make and nothing He doesn’t know. This means that Jesus knows protons and quarks and strings and all about E=mc2.  He knows all about it because He made it all. He did the big bang!

The “Word” in the language the Bible was written in (Greek because Alexander the Great had made everyone learn it) meant logic or reason or purpose. It’s the word “logos” from which comes our word “logical”. This means he knows our mind, all the quirks of human behavior. He knows our problems and how we interact. Do you think that Jesus just might know how to relate effectively in business? Do you think Jesus just might know how best to parent, to love, to work, to recreate, to do anything?

Could it be that the most amazing and silly and ridiculous and arrogant and absolutely stupid thing any of can ever do is to try to live life without consulting the Maker of Life?

How about you?  Do you consult with him regularly on how to “do” your life?

Prayer

Lord, you’ve made the great offer. You’ve given each of us not just a great tutor and mentor for life, but that helper is YOU! I don’t know how you can be available to all people at all times, yet You are. You can expect to be hearing from me often! And, Lord, Thank You! Amen”
