Jesus Does Not Fit Into Your Life

When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave
orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in
accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.

Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:

"A voice is heard in Ramah,
                weeping and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted,
because they are no more."                   Matthew 2:16-18(NIV)

Mary, Joseph and Jesus had gotten out of town one step ahead of Herod who wanted Jesus dead.
But Herod, not giving up on ridding the world of a would-be rival, had the babies (an estimated
18 to 25) in and around Bethlehem murdered, as predicted in the Old Testament.

Herod’s world, Herod’s life, wasn’t big enough for two Kings.

Nor is your life or mine.   There’s room for one king only.   Imagine having been given a giant,
incredibly beautiful and valuable and magnificent work of art which is so large that it cannot fit
into your home.   It’s worth millions.  What do you do?  Can you imagine tearing down your home,
and rebuilding your home, board by board, around the gift?    It will cost you everything, but that’s
the cost of having the gift.   And that’s what Christianity says must happen when your life and Jesus
life meet.

When you consider Jesus and your life, whom do your try to fit around whom?

Prayer

“Lord, What a thought!!!  Have I been trying to fit You into my life?   How self centered is that!?
Forgive me Lord.  And show me today one place where I can practice allowing you to rebuild me
around You.   Amen”
