Read   Your Body

“Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? 17 God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple”
1 Corinthians 3:16-17(NLT)

Reflect

Do you treat your body as Holy?

Comments

When God acted on you to open you to Christ, you received not only God’s inheritance but also Him, His Spirit.

The Bible tells us this is a real thing, God actually having taken up residence within. This is not something ethereal, it is “earthy”, real, and embodied.

There is nothing, absolutely nothing that I do with my body that is not “spiritual”. Eating, lounging, letting it get sloppy, keeping it fit, what you do with your mind, what you read and watch and think, how you work . . . . . these are all embodied
actions.

In a very, very important sense there is no such thing as a “spiritual life”, there is only life. It’s not how “you” treat “your body”, rather there is no you that can be separated from your body in this life.

How will your body embody and express the Life of Christ within you today as you encounter work, the opposite sex, fatigue, temptation, TV, the need for rest, and the draw of sloth?

Prayer

“Lord, I will treat my body as a gift. No more abuse. It is Holy. I will, from now on, treat it as such. Amen”
