Courage to Relinquish Your Rights

“Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible . . . .I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some." 1 Corinthians 9:19-22(NIV)

Reflect

Where in your life do you relinquish a "right" so that another person's needs are put above your own?

Comment

The cry of 21st century Americans is, "I have my rights!"

The message of the Gospel, the way of the cross, the power of the cross is that God will supply all my needs. The message of the cross is not that I an "owed", rather I am supplied.

Are you willing to give up alcohol, or smoking, or even eating green beans, if you discover that any of those things (to which you have a right) are a detriment to the spiritual growth of another?

Prayer

“Lord,  I feel conflicted. Does this mean that Christian maturity means that I don't get to do what I want to do? It seems so. And for this I need your help.
Amen”
