How to Climb Mt. Everest and Come Back Alive

“The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body.
So it is with the body of Christ.  . . . This makes for harmony among the members,
so that all the members care for each other.  If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it,
and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.  All of you together are Christ’s body,
and each of you is a part of it.”

1 Corinthians 12:12-27 (NLT)

No one climbs Everest alone.   Each climber has a guide, a team, a plan, a process, and definitive steps that need to be taken along the way.

Jeannette Guilbert, our Director of Children’s Ministries has been planning and working with her team to offer another terrific two weeks of Vacation Bible School with the theme of “Everest:  Conquering Challenges with Gods’ Mighty Power”.  The goal is to reach as much as the community as we can for Christ.

Jeannette and her team are coming down to the wire with preparations and on their behalf I want to ask you as the CLC church family to “jump in” in the following ways.

1.     Friday, July 10th and Saturday, July 11th  (from 9:00 to 3:00 each day)  are the final two VBS work days, basically the final push in fully decorating the entire church for VBS!    Please consider bringing your family to help decorate! You can come at any time during either of those two day to help.   Doing so would be a HUGE help  AND it will be a great way for you to meet and get to know others from the CLC family, whom you don’t yet know.

2.     Also, I suspect that there are among you a few who are able to teach and will be blessed by teaching a Preschool or Elementary age class during one of our VBS weeks!   Jeannette is seeking at least one of each!  The main qualifications for this position are the love of kids, and enthusiasm and love of the kids and a willingness to be shown the ropes!   You will have all the biblical knowledge you need right at your fingertips.

God has set life up so that those who give what they feel they don’t have (time, money, talents) at the precise time when it’s most inconvenient (ensuring therefore that it is a sacrifice) find themselves grateful for having done so, in the end inwardly rewarded by God with a reward that the “world” cannot provide.

I hope many of you will go for this reward.  God will be glad you did.   You will be glad you did.  The children will be glad you did.   And, yes, Jeannette will be glad that you did!
