Experiment Time Part 2

Do you want to try the experiment together?

As you mulled over Philippians 3:1-11, what questions came to mind? They can be questions you know the answers to or questions you don’t know the answers to.

Here’s a great question I heard last week: “Isn’t Paul a little arrogant to talk about all his accomplishments?” (verses 4-6)

One of my questions is: “Why is everything Paul used to consider a gain now a loss to him? In what way is it a loss?” (verse 7)

Who are the dogs, evildoers and mutilators of the flesh in verse 2? Are they the same group or are they different? Along with your question about verse 7, Paul then counts "everything" and "all things" a loss for the sake of knowing Christ in verse 8. What does that mean? It seems like more than just the things he had going for him in the previous verses. Finally, how do you do that? Thanks!

  2. What does "loss" mean here? When you lose something it's gone-gone-gone unless you look for it hoping to finding it. So could "loss" not mean to go missing, but that it has lost its value?? If Paul's past has lost its value, he sounds mighty proud of the memory - so maybe that's not it either.

what must I lose to gain Christ and be found in him?

what, truly, is the "POWER of HIS RESURRECTION" and how - or what do I need to do - to know that POWER?
