A Potentially Life Altering Self Assessment

Blog »  A Potentially Life Altering Self Assessment

"In Jesus God came to earth"         Does knowing this affect your attitudes and behaviors?
Are you aware that God is actively engaged in bringing
your actual life into alignment the life he has planned for
you?  God is a Father who relentlessly pursues his
children.  Does this affect how you think and live? Does
this impact how you view others in measurable ways?

"died for our sins"                            Does this impact how you view others?  Do you believe
that God does not condemn you for your sins, rather
forgives you and accepts you in spite of your sin?  Does
this humble you, make you complacent or is it just a "ho
                                                        hum" fact?

"was raised from the dead"             Does knowing that God will bring life out of the worst
make you an optimist or are you still a pessimist?  How
does Romans 4:17 (God brings life from the dead and
calls into being that which does not exist) affect your
actual life? Do you believe this verse or doubt this
verse?  What prevents you from choosing the former?

"rules the Universe" (Ro 10:9)         What if anything does it actually mean to your actual day
to day living that Jesus is ruling everything on planet
earth from the most miniscule of things to the largest of
things?  God is Lord over every event, person, nation,
                                                         and circumstance.  What would/should actually
believing this do to how approach the actual things you
will do and encounter in your hour to hour life
                                                         tomorrow?

"is making all things new"                Jesus is at this very moment personally engaged, mostly
through believers, in the process of bringing heaven to
earth, and renewing and restoring all things that are
broken.  How should/could/would actually believing this
change how your actual attitudes and actions at home,
at work, and in interacting with other people?

Because we are unable to send attachments with these blogs, if you email me I will reply directly  to you with the choice of two different desktop backgrounds with the above Gospel summary.

It may also work for you to use your computer's snipping tool to snip the above graphic above, save it, then make it your desktop background that way.

  1. Seems like you've skipped the story of Creation and the "why" of Jesus having to come. You've got about 20 characters left (I keep losing count) and I can give you a few more by subbing "rose" for "was raised" and "&" for "and".

  2. I felt that 144 characters is not enough to do His glorious gospel justice, nor was it enough to include the essential information one would need in choosing whether or not to give one’s life to Christ. I thought I could do 144 words (versus characters) and maybe by reducing verbiage I could do better, but I wanted to share these 249 words in response to the challenge:

There is a God and I am not Him. He created me. He created all of this. He is holy and just, and He separates good from evil. (Genesis 1:1-4, John 1:1-18)

I am born with selfishness and all kinds of evil in my heart and I can see this from my past and present behaviors and actions. (Romans 3:23) Because of this sin in my heart I face certain eternal separation from God and all that is good in life, and condemnation in a place where exists all evil. (Romans 6:23) There will be a day when God will judge all that has been done. (2 Corinthians 5:10)

God loved me so much that He chose to become human like me and to show me how I should live my life. In the process He (God, Jesus) gave His life on the cross, dying for my sin, and for all sinners who choose to call Jesus “Lord.” (John 3:16, Romans 6:23 & 10:9-10) By believing in Christ, I am made righteous in God’s sight and also begin the process by which I am continually being made righteous, which will be completed on that day when Jesus comes again. (Romans 10:9-10 & Philippians 1:6)

Because of Jesus’ sacrifice I am free from sin and death and free to give my life in gratitude for all He gave me, in order that God’s free gift of salvation can be seen by those who do not yet know Jesus. (John 20:31)
